MESSAGE FROM MICHELLE
Osiyo! I'm Michelle Love, born and raised in East Roseland/Pullman area on Chicago's south side in the 60s and 70s. My high school years were spent in Indiana. I've raised my five daughter's in Rogers Park on Chicago's north side for the most part of my adult life. I've been a Girl Scout Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Community Organizer, talk show host, former co-owner of AWOF Ministries and pseudo Mom to many in our community. I met fellow Birdie Jolissa at our workplace. Sharing our experiences of herbal remedies with teas, oils and "real" nutritious foods. Jolissa decided that WE should grow our own organic non-GMO food in a community that didn't have access to such wealth. From there we moved forward and it ignited a fire that continues to burn, a fire that keeps us motivated and determined to share with the wider community for holistic healing!
MESSAGE FROM JOLISSA
Hello my loves! My name is Jolissa and I am the crazy one who came up with the idea of starting a community garden! I was born in New York City but then relocated to the South side of Chicago when I was 11 years old. As long as I could remember I knew I always wanted to help people. So I then started my journey in nursing. But my path took some crazy turns and I ended up stopping school and working full time with great pay. I then used my position there to continue my dream to help. I got involved with the union and joined a committee. There I was very active doing community service work, fundraisers and food drives. I knew I wanted to do more. But then my daughter got sick. I had to change her eating habits. Then that's when the idea popped into my head. I wanted to grow my own food! I wanted to be in control what I put into my body. I got so excited I wanted everyone to know the benefits of eating healthy and organic! Then BOOM! Three Little Birds Gardens was created!
Hello! We are Three Little Birds Gardens! We are excited you have come to find out more about our organization and what we are doing in the community! We are the garden that serves!
