SPRING EQUINOX 2025

Happy Spring! The Spring Equinox marks a time of renewal, balance, and new beginnings, symbolizing the transition from darkness to light and the awakening of nature, often prompting reflection and intention-setting

Renewal and Rebirth: The spring equinox is a powerful symbol of renewal and rebirth, mirroring the emergence of life after the dormancy of winter. Balance and Equilibrium: The equinox, with its equal day and night, represents a time of balance and equilibrium, both in nature and within oneself. Transition and Change: It's a time of transition, marking the shift from winter to spring and the potential for new beginnings and growth.

Light vs. Darkness: The equinox is seen as a time when light begins to triumph over darkness, symbolizing hope and optimism.

Fertility and Abundance: Many cultures associate the spring equinox with fertility and abundance, as nature awakens and provides for the coming season!

    MESSAGE FROM MICHELLE

Osiyo! I'm Michelle Love, born and raised in East Roseland/Pullman area on Chicago's south side in the 60s and 70s. My high school years were spent in Indiana. I've raised my five daughter's in Rogers Park on Chicago's north side for the most part of my adult life. I've been a Girl Scout Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Community Organizer, talk show host, former co-owner of AWOF Ministries and pseudo Mom to many in our community. I met fellow Birdie Jolissa at our workplace. Sharing our experiences of herbal remedies with teas, oils and "real" nutritious foods. Jolissa decided that WE should grow our own organic non-GMO food in a community that didn't have access to such wealth. From there we moved forward and it ignited a fire that continues to burn, a fire that keeps us motivated and determined to share with the wider community for holistic healing!

    MESSAGE FROM JOLISSA

Hello my loves! My name is Jolissa and I am the crazy one who came up with the idea of starting a  community garden! I was born in New York City but then relocated to the South side of Chicago when I was 11 years old. As long as I could remember I knew I always wanted to help people. So I then started my journey in nursing. But my path took some crazy turns and I ended up stopping school and working full time with great pay. I then used my position there to continue my dream to help. I got involved with the union and joined a committee. There I was very active doing community service work, fundraisers and food drives. I knew I wanted to do more. But then my daughter got sick. I had to change her eating habits. Then that's when the idea popped into my head. I wanted to grow my own food! I wanted to be in control what I put into my body. I got so excited I wanted everyone to know the benefits of eating healthy and organic! Then BOOM! Three Little Birds Gardens was created!

Hello! We are Three Little Birds Gardens! We are excited you have come to find out more about our organization and what we are doing in the community! We are the garden that serves!

    Our History

It started from an idea from President of Three Little Birds Gardens, Jolissa Guedes (right pictured). She stated, "I can't explain why or how it just popped into my head to start a community garden. I am a firm believer in everything happens for a reason and when it's supposed to happen. I met the other two ladies and explained my idea and the rest is history!". She met Michelle Love (left pictured) at her place of work, Michelle is a Co-Founder of Three Little Birds Gardens.   Different backgrounds. One common goal.

    Our Mission

Our mission for Three Little Birds Gardens is to promote a healthy lifestyle and healthy eating habits within the community. To show the benefits of a holistic approach to living, starting from the inside out. We welcome those in the community into a peaceful, respectful and safe environment. We will encourage and educate those on the importance of nutrition. Provide organic produce and offering educational programing. We commit to working with other outside resources and stakeholders to show unity. We are the garden that serves.
